How to use Quick Projection

Hello!

Sometimes is difficult to paint textures in blender, as well as in photoshop/gimp, without a 3d reference. This times are when this tool comes very handy! Quick Projection allows you take a screenshot, open it in you image editor software, paint over it, and project it back into blender! This feature makes the process easier and it's pretty automated (that's why it's called quick hehe).

I tagged this one as expert level, cause you need to know several things for using this tool, and this tutorial is somehow a continuation of the previous one, Texturing in Blender.

I used this method a lot of times for things like projecting a real face onto a 3d face (using Photoshop for distorting the real one to fit the model). With Quick Projection, you just work in the given angle and point of view each time, so for texturing a face, for example, you need to do it from several sides, one by one, the good thing is that you have all the great painting and texturing tools from your Image Editor to blend the parts where the current projection joins with the previous one.

very helpful tutorial, thanks but I have a question? mm creo que en espanol me pueden dar a entender mejor.
Puedo recuperar una imagen uv de un modelo ya pintado? Seria como tener el modelo ya pintado y todo y de este obtener la imagen en png de la proyeccion? espero que se entienda, si no de todos modos gracias

No entiendo exactamente a qué te refieres... desde el UV/Image Editor puedes ver la imagen que está siendo proyectada en todo momento, y puedes salvarla (desde el menú Image) o exportar las líneas de las UVs (Menú UVs, Export UVs).

gracias por contestar y pues eso si ya lo se, lo que quiero hacer mas bien es esto. Es cambiar la proyección y que la imagen cambie también sin que se altere el modelo como ya esta pintado, para poder acomodar todo de una manera diferente en la imagen que tengo en UV/Image Editor. Es como hacer todo el proceso pero alrevés, se podrá hacer esto??

Hmmm Pues sinceramente, no lo sé. Se me pasan por la cabeza soluciones tipo tener varios modelos, modificar las uvs de uno, y luego hacer un bake de esa textura en el otro objeto... pero es solo una idea a bote pronto, no lo he probado ni nada, nunca he necesitado algo así :S

A ver si lo que he dicho ahora sirve de algo, si no tendrás que tirar de la experimentación! :D
